Many DIY homeowners put away
their paint brushes and switched to paint sprayers.
Paint sprayers are cost-effective and can get the
job done in a hurry. There is no need for the mess
that is typically created when painting with paint
brushes and you can get the finish you want using
less paint.
Typically painting with an
airless paint sprayer is about ten times faster
than painting with a paint brush and four times
faster than a paint roller. You also get a clean,
smooth finish every time as opposed to the brush
strokes you get when using a paint brush.
When looking for a paint
sprayer to purchase there are basically two main
types to choose from. First, there is the high
volume low pressure (HVLP) paint sprayer. Its only
drawback is that it slowly applies paint. However,
they are the best paint sprayer for small home
projects such as cabinets or doors. These paint
sprayers are typically used for more detailed,
finer finishes with little overspray.
The second choice is the
airless paint sprayers which are used for larger
projects like houses and fences. They are generally
more powerful and pump out much more paint than
HVLP sprayers.
Before purchasing a paint
sprayer first determine what you want to paint.
There’s a huge difference between wanting to paint
the entire exterior of your house and wanting to
paint a simple door craft project. If you’re only
looking to paint small projects, you don’t want to
waste money buying a large expensive paint sprayer.
Large paint
sprayers generally operate between 2,000 and 3,000
psi and are not intended for the DIY homeowner.
Typically, these are for industrial uses and used
to paint large projects. If all you want to paint
is your front gates, a door or other small jobs you
do not need a large commercial spray painter.
