Introduction: Most homeowners do their own house
painting. Not only do they save a bundle of money,
they often do a much better job than the
professionals that charge $75 an hour. House
painting is quite easy, whether you are painting
the exterior or the interior of your home.
The most difficult part of house painting is
painting the trim and cutting the lines between the
ceiling and walls when they are different colors.
Often the novice painter uses many rolls of
painter’s masking tape to prevent colors from
overrunning each other. Using masking tape really
is not necessary. With a little practice and using
the right paint brush you can paint the trim and
cut the lines between colors quite easily. The
question is what is the right paint brush?
Most paint stores sell premium 2 and 3 inch angled
short handle paint brushes that makes painting trim
and paint cutting between colors easy without the
use of masking tape. It is by far the best paint
brush that I have ever used to paint trim and cut
paint lines between colors. The brush is easy to
control because of the short easy grip handle
design that makes the whole painting project much
easier and faster.
Applying painter’s tape is time consuming and more
often than not the paint seems to migrate under the
tape edges making you wonder why you bothered with
tape at all. Painting the trim and cutting the
edges by hand with a proper angled paint brush is
much faster. Large rooms that usually take a full
day to paint including the baseboards, around the
windows and doors, and the crown molding can be
completed in less than two hours with the proper
paintbrush.
Don’t waste your money and time with painter’s
tape. Purchase an angle paint brush to do the trim
work and cutting between colors. Once you get the
angle brush painting technique down you will save a
lot of time painting a room and save yourself a lot
of money by not buying a half dozen rolls of
painter’s tape.
