Tools for an Easier Move
Moving Tips
Introduction:
No one likes to move because
it can be a backbreaking job. I relearned this one
weekend after helping a friend move into a new
house. I can tell you right now that if I was the
world house building king all houses would be one
floor houses.
Although moving can be a big
job it can be made a lot easier if you have some
basic handy moving tools and equipment available.
Not only will the job go easier it may even save
your back from going out again. Having moved many
times, I have paid close attention to how the pros
move large pieces of furniture and heavy
appliances. From those experiences I recommend
having the following tools for an easier move.
These tools and equipment should be on hand before
starting to move your household.
-
A two-wheel hand
truck is an absolute must. If you’re only going to
buy or rent one piece of equipment this is the one.
It is perfect for moving stacks of boxes and
appliances. It’s very easy to maneuver and is build
to ease the burden for going up and down stairs.
These hand trucks can be rented from any moving
truck rental dealer.
-
Furniture moving
pads are great to move large pieces of heavy
furniture across floors rather than carrying them.
I used to think these only worked on furniture with
legs, but they can be used for moving anything
heavy over carpet especially fully loaded tall file
cabinets.

It is nearly
impossible to avoid heavy lifting, so lifting
straps are a must have item. These straps are
standard equipment for appliance movers and can be
rented from any moving truck dealer. You and a
partner still need the combined strength to lift
the object, but these straps eliminate some of the
challenges of grip and bent back lifting. They work
especially well when you need to maneuver heavy
objects in tight spaces, such as through doorways
and around corners.
-
Leather gloves with
rubber-coated palms are absolutely essential. Your
hands may get hot but they will be spared the harm
caused by sharp and heavy objects. A good pair of
heavy duty work gloves can be purchased at any
hardware store.
These tools will make the experience of moving
mush easier and maybe save a back injury.
