Turning off Lights Can Help the Environment
Home Energy Conservation
Introduction:
The primary
environment concern is that there is too much
pollution in our environment. As a homeowner we can
help the environment by the way we utilize our
electricity. Turning off lights can help the
environment when they are not needed is the most
economical way of helping the problem. Our home
lighting affects the environment in several ways.
First, it is well understood that by using
non-renewable energy fuel to generate power is
causing pollution to our environment. The black
smoke and the carbon dioxide that are being
produced from gasoline fuel and power plants are
the major causes of greenhouse effect resulting in
the global warming of our planet. Natural gas,
coal, oil, and gasoline are examples of
non-renewable energy sources. These types of fuels
raise the carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere
which is the main contributor to the greenhouse
effect and global warming. The increase in the
earth’s temperature may be enough to alter the
balance of nature.
The recent strong typhoons, flash flooding and
landslides around the world are believed to be side
effects of the melting of huge icebergs from the
North and South Pole. These global catastrophes may
be due to the increase in the earth's temperature.
Everybody can contribute to stopping the global
warming trend of the earth.
By turning off the lights you can help the
environment by decreasing the demand for electric
power generation. We all know that we can decrease
the warming of the earth by avoiding heat leaks in
our homes. These actions translate to the reduction
of burning of fossil fuel which in turn reduces the
emission of black smoke to our environment. With
the efficient utilization of lights at home we can
also save money on electric bills.
Non-renewable energy resources as we all know
cannot be replaced at all. The quicker we burn our
fossil fuels, the more pressure is being imposed on
the entire global economy.
These non-replaceable energy resources
require a preservation management plan from all the
countries in the world as well as the individual
contribution of the people.
It is a fact the last hundred year period of fossil
fuel utilization has polluted the environment. Many
of the world’s scientists believe that the increase
in temperature of the air surface and ocean waters
is bringing more rains and stronger typhoons.
The suggested solution on how we could preserve and
clean our environment is to follow an
energy-efficiency home program.
By simply turning off the lights we can be a
big help for the world's environment. Every
homeowner can make contributions in energy saving
by just turning off the lights when they are not
necessary.
