Installing a Dome Security Camera
Security Camera Installation
Overview:
Security
cameras have become part of home security and
protection. Small home security cameras can be
installed almost anywhere. Installing a dome
security camera is the most popular camera
installation as it can be installed on a ceiling or
a wall and appears as though it is just another
smoke or fire detector.
When installing on a vertical
wall the dome camera should be able to incline and
turn at least 180 degrees. Avoid sight blocking
items such big flowering plants, waving curtains or
other objects that hang in the room. To be
efficient the dome camera needs high visibility.
The dome is made of clear
synthetic glass and should be protected from any
steam generating object in the room that will cloud
or blur the lens cover.
Before installing the camera check all
possible movement that your camera needs to monitor
the room.
Ceiling spot lights and other lamps in the area
should not shine straight into the lens of the
security camera. Back lights or a sudden flash may
interrupt the video recording causing a missed
monitoring event.
A ceiling mounted dome camera can provide 360
degrees of monitoring. The unobtrusive half bowl
casing is perfect for recreation rooms, kitchens
and workshops. The inclining and 360 degree turning
allows monitoring any angle of the room. Most of
these security cameras provide video surveillance
that can be recorded in high resolution. There are
additional options in the software package that
will permit you to zoom the area on your
surveillance monitor. The swiveling 360 degree
capability will permit monitoring and recording of
all relevant occurrences in each corner of the
room. An automatic electronic shutter with a high
sensitivity light provides color pictures of a high
resolution depending on the camera model. The
synthetic glass dome is removable to easily service
and clean the camera dome and lens. High quality
day and night cameras use infrared image sensors
for detecting and recording in darkness.
As an alternative, a combination of real
surveillance dome cameras can be used with dummy
dome cameras. The dummy cameras appear just like
real ones. Using a combination of these can save a
lot of money and still provide the security you
desire.
