How to Provide an External Air Supply to Your Boiler
Most gas and oil boilers do not have an
external air source to feed the boiler. Instead the air is taken
from the surrounded air space in the basement. This allows the
burning to use air that is laden with dust which causes the boiler
burn chamber to become dirty. A dirty burn chamber will cause the
boiler to run less efficient which will increase your energy cost.
Your gas or oil boiler should have an external
air source ducted to the boiler from outside the house. A fresh
outside air source will provide clean air to the burn chamber
keeping the boiler operating at a high efficiency. Installing an
external air supply is an easy DIY project.
