Door lock sets wear out after a few years and need replacing. Every home has two or more exterior doors with lock sets. Replacing a door lock set is an easy homeowner DIY task. To remove the lock set involves removing the four screws that attaches the lock set to the door. Once the screws are removed the lock set can be removed from the door.

A replacement lock set can be purchased at any home improvement supply center such as The Home Depot or Lowe’s for approximately $30.00 for a good quality one. When purchasing a lock set you will want to have it keyed to your old key to avoid having different entry keys for your home. Matching your old key to the new lock set is a routing task offered by most hardware stores or supply centers.
