How to Install Blind Screws Video
A Woodworkers Technique for Installing
Blind Screws
Introduction:
When
building most furniture pieces such as tables,
dressers and blanket chests the screws that hold
them together are hidden from sight. The hidden
screws are known as blind screws in the world of
woodworking.
Hiding screws is a common
woodworking task. It involves counter setting
screws deep enough so a plug or cap can be
installed on top of the counter sunk screw. The
plug is installed with glue and sanded flush with
finish of the wood.
The plugs come in several
different types of wood to match the wood used in
your project such as cherry wood, mahogany wood and
birch wood. The size varies from ¼ inch up to a ½
inch and the plugs may be in the form of a plain
flat button or a button that sticks above the
surface of the wood.
