How to Glue Wood Together Video
Gluing Wood
Introduction:
Unfortunately, all the large trees have been
harvested so wide pieces of wood must be made from
smaller pieces. There are many times when we need
wide pieces of wood to complete a DIY wood project
such as for making table tops, dresser tops or
raised panels. To do this, we must glue pieces of
wood together.
Making a wide piece of wood is
just a matter of gluing two or more pieces of wood
together to gain the desired width. There are only
two critical steps in this process. The first being
that the edges of the glued joints must be
perfectly cut at ninety degrees and the second is
to use very good wood glue.
Glue is painted on the joining
edges of each piece of wood and then the pieces are
placed under clamps until the glue dries. In most
cases the glue will dry within an hour.
For a
demonstration of this process see our “How to Glue
Wood Together Video”.
