A sticky door can be an annoying nuisance but you really don’t have to put up with it. Fixing a sticky door is an easy DIY project and can be done in two ways.

If it the sticking door is minor problem, you can remedy it with a bar of plain soap. Just rub the bar of soap along the sticky point. The soap with act as a lubricant so the door won’t stick any longer. In most cases, this is just a temporary fix because the soap will wear off.

To permanently fix a sticky door you will have to remove the door and remove a little material where the door is sticking by sanding the area. This can be done using sand paper or an orbital sander. After you have sanded off the door be sure to apply some paint to the raw wood so it will not absorb moisture and become sticky again.
