Introduction: Cleaning your clothes dryer vent is very important so your clothes dryer will operate efficiently. Cleaning a clothes dryer vent is an easy homeowner DIY task.

Every clothes dryer has a vent to vent the dryer to the outside of the house. The vent screen at the end of the vent requires periodic cleaning for the optimum efficiency of the dryer. Lint particles that escape the dryer lint trap pass through the vent house and collect at the vent screen at the end of the house on the outside. To clean the vent, simply remove the vent screen from the end of the vent tube and remove the lint.

During winter months the screen clogs more easily because of the moisture that collects as the vent tube exit due to the temperature drop as the warm dryer air exits the vent. The moisture combines with the lint particles and clogs the vent.
