Most homes today have electrical panels that incorporate circuit breakers. Circuit breakers fail from time to time and need to be replaced. Replacing a circuit breaker is an easy DIY task, however, there are safety precautions that should be taken to insure that there are no injuries.

Before working on an electrical panel, insure that you are standing on a dry surface and are wearing insulated shoes or boots. In addition, leather gloves should be worn to prevent an electrical shock in the event your hand makes contact with a live wire in the electrical panel box.

Changing a circuit breaker is an easy TIY task that can be performed by most homeowners. A replacement circuit breaker cost approximately $15 to $20 depending on the size (current rating) of the breaker. They are available at most home improvement supply centers.
