Spaghetti sauce, pizza, and a lot more of our favorite Italian dishes are made with tomato sauce. Although these sauces are delicious when used in many of our favorite food recipes, they can cause a cleaning challenge if they spill onto your carpet. Not to worry. These carpet stains are not impossible to remove from your carpet. Here are some tips on how to remove tomato sauce from a carpet. When you are finished your carpet will look like new.

1. Remove any loose food particles that lay on the carpet. Removing as much of the spill as possible will keep the mess from spreading which will make it easier to clean the actual sauce from your carpet.

2. Blot the stain using a sponge or clean cloth. This will help remove even more of the sauce from the carpet, leaving you a bare minimum to clean up.

3. Apply any household carpet cleaning solution to the stain. There are many to choose from that work great with tomato sauce. If you want something less expensive or prefer a non-chemical solution, you can use vinegar, as it is also an effective stain remover.

4. Apply a small amount of the carpet cleaning solution on the stain and then blot with a clean cloth or towel. Then, rinse with some water. If the stain is not removed, repeat the process with a small amount of carpet cleaner until the stain is gone.

5. If you are using vinegar, combine a teaspoon of it with one cup of water in a spray bottle. Spray the solution on the stained area and blot with a clean cloth or towel. Repeat these steps until you have removed all of the tomato sauce.

6. Thoroughly rinse the area with water and dry it with a fan or a fresh towel to remove all the cleaning agent residue.

7. After the carpet is thoroughly dry, vacuum it until the carpet is fluffy again.

Removing tomato sauce from a carpet is not a difficult task and you don’t need to hire a professional carpet cleaning company to do it for you. Just follow these steps and your carpet will look just like new.
