Cleaning Solution and Tools:

You will need a cleaning solution for cleaning seatbelt webbing. For the best cleaning solution, you mix 6 ounces of degreaser into 1 gallon of water. This solution will work effectively to remove most kinds of stains and especially the greasy ones which are the most stubborn.

Use a soft lint-free cloth for washing the webbing. Microfiber cloth is an excellent choice. This is because a sponge can leave fine fibers and leave a mess. It is best to use a new cloth to ensure that it is soft and gentle.

Preparing the Seatbelts:

To prepare the webbing for cleaning, you need to pull each seatbelt out to its maximum length. Make sure that it extends out of the car so that you do not make a mess on the seats and floor while cleaning. Use a clamp or tape to ensure that the belt stays in place.

Cleaning and Drying:

Start by soaking the cloth in the solution. Then rub the seatbelt webbing vigorously. Pay special attention to any stubborn dirt spots. If they do not want to go away, you can add a little more degreaser to the solution and try again.

After you are done with the cleaning, use fresh water to rinse the webbing. Just make sure that the water flow is gentle.

Use a dry microfiber cloth to blot the webbing after you are done with the rinsing. You must let the belts to dry completely. Never let the belt retract until it is dry or the moisture can lead to rust and damage. To speed up the drying process, use a fan or a hair dryer.

With regular cleaning, your car seatbelt webbing will be in excellent condition.
