How to Clean a Kitchen
Cleaning a Kitchen
Introduction:
A clean kitchen is imperative to maintaining a
clean germ free household. Unfortunately a lot of
today’s homeowners don’t know where to start.
Giving the kitchen a quick “lick and promise” just
doesn’t get the job done. A more thorough deep
cleaning is necessary from time to time to maintain
a clean and safe environment for your families
health.
How to clean a kitchen:
-
Appliances
-
Refrigerator: Wash the front, sides and top of
your refrigerator using a kitchen cleaner that
includes a disinfectant. There are many
different kitchen cleaning products on the
market to choose from. Pay particular attention
to the door surface and handles.
-
Microwave: Clean the microwave inside and
outside using a kitchen cleaner that includes a
disinfectant.
-
Toaster and toaster oven: Clean the inside and
outside of the toaster oven using a kitchen
cleaner with disinfectant. Dump the crumb tray
of the toaster and clean the outside with a
kitchen cleaner that includes a disinfectant.
-
Cabinets & Pantry
-
Wipe away food stains and scuffs on the fronts
and side of cabinet doors and draws.
-
Dust the spice rack and
get rid of outdated food items.
-
Polish cabinet hardware to a shine.
-
Remove and reorganize the contents of the
pantry then clean the door and shelves before
putting items back.
-
Surfaces & Accessories
Cleaning:
-
Clean counter accessories with Mr. Clean or
other quality counter top cleaner. If the
counter is made from granite a through
scrubbing is necessary to clean the pours in
the surface. Food stains and grease are likely
to build up on them over time making a breeding
climate for germs.
-
Remove all items that live on the counter and
clean them thoroughly, like a coffeemaker,
cookie jar and cookbook stand.
-
Remove stovetop grates and clean them in the
sink using a sponge.
-
If a window sits above the sink, be sure to
clean it.
-
Floors
Cleaning a kitchen seems to be a never ending chore
because it is the most active room in the house.
Deep cleaning the kitchen does not have to be done
daily but it should be done at least weekly if you
are going to maintain a safe germ free environment.
