Masonite Siding
Home Siding
Introduction: The many
different types of home siding include wood, vinyl,
aluminum, cement and Masonite siding. Masonite
siding is a slim type of fiber board or
particleboard which has one glossy side and another
textured side. The primary use of this thin board
is for exterior siding on houses.
Masonite is also called hardboard, cardboard, or
clapboard. Exterior Masonite siding is one of the
most popular siding used in tract homes in the
Unites States.
Masonite sidings are mainly made of woodchips with
a fine texture amalgamation of wax, resin, and
glue. This siding material is produced under a
specific industrial process where heat and pressure
are combined together to form a smooth woody
finished product. There are several advantages in
using Masonite siding.
One of the advantages of using Masonite siding is
its price. It is less expensive than solid wood,
vinyl, and cement sidings. It is also easy to
install and inexpensive to purchase. The reason
Masonite hardboard siding is easy to install is
because it does not require any trade expertise to
install it.
The woody resemblance of Masonite is one of the
leading reasons for the popularity of Masonite
siding and it does not require a lot of expensive
maintenance as other siding options. Because of its
synthetic qualities it is termite free and insect
proof. Because there is not a lot of trees involved
in manufacturing it, Masonite house siding is
considered a green building material and is
eco-friendly.
Masonite hardboard siding is available in both lap
and panel form and the advantage of using either of
these forms is about equal.
Masonite siding is available in different
colors and a variety of different textures.
Masonite sidings are available up to 7/16th inches
and 1/2 inch. Lap Masonite sidings are available in
length up to 16 feet and 4 feet in width.
Masonite sidings are available in four different
types of finishes for different uses. These
different finish stages are pre-stained,
pre-painted, primed, and pre-finished. Masonite
siding are paint friendly and retains paint for 4
to 6 years. This means in every 4 to 6 years
exterior Masonite sidings may require painting for
good maintenance. Acrylic paints and exterior latex
