When it comes to refinishing
the basement, one of the decisions you have to make
is what kind of heating system to install.
Installing an electric baseboard heater for the
basement could be the best way to heat a newly
finished basement. However, these types of
baseboard heaters have some advantages and
disadvantages. Here are a few pros and cons of
electric baseboard heaters for your basement as
opposed to other types of heaters.
On the pros side, electric
baseboard heaters are extremely easy to install.
You should be able to simply attach it to the
baseboard area in the basement and hook them up to
the wiring and you have a ready source of heat. By
comparison, it is one of the easiest heaters to
install.
The cost of electric baseboard
heaters is also easier on your budget than other
types of heaters such as forced hot water. Using
electric baseboard can be a good way to save money
when remodeling your basement.
On the con side, if you have a
large basement, there may not be enough heat output
to completely heat the entire area with electric
baseboard heaters. They can put out some good heat,
but they are not as powerful as some of the other
baseboard heater systems that are available.
Using electric baseboard
heaters is not going to be as efficient as other
heaters. By comparison, a forced hot water heater
is going to be much more efficient when heating
your basement, but it is more costly to install.
Most basements are large open areas which take a
lot to heat them, therefore, you will have to have
a of baseboard heaters to heat the whole basement.
Although it will be inexpensive to install, it will
cost a lot more to operate than forced hot water
baseboard.
