Which Vacuum Cleaner is Best for You
Vacuum Cleaners
Introduction: Nearly every
household has a vacuum cleaner or a vacuum cleaning
system. It may be a portable or a central vacuum
system.
All vacuum cleaners consist of a canister and a
vacuum motor that creates the vacuum to suck dirt
or debris into the canister. In addition all
systems have a house and an assortment of hose ends
for different tasks. The tree different types of
vacuum cleaners are: the upright, horizontal, and
the central vacuum unit.
All vacuum cleaner systems have the same basic
components. The canister vacuum cleaner has a
canister or vacuum cleaner bag which is a separate
part of the portable unit. This is where the dirt
and particles are deposited to. Another major
component is the vacuum motor that creates the
suction action. The final major component is the
canister which is connected to a hose and has
different kind’s tips for different applications of
vacuuming.
The cleaning head of the hose may be powered with a
cleaning brush that is used to fluff up carpet nap.
These components are also the same in a central
vacuum system other than the canister which is
linked to a network of pipes that run through the
walls or floor to connect to a large canister
either mounted on the garage or basement.
The portable vacuum cleaners are designed to be
moved about by rolling on the floor. There are also
backpack types portable units which you can carry
close to your side or mount on your back.
The portable models have all the parts of the
system incorporated into a single unit. These units
are made to stand upright position (upright vacuum
cleaners) or in a horizontal position which is how
it acquired its title.
To determine which type of vacuum system is right
for your home you need to look at your home and see
which type of unit will work best. Your decision
will be affected if there are stairs, wood floors,
and a lot of carpeted floors.
Portable canister vacuum cleaners are excellent for
a single story home. Since you would have to lug
along the canister, it would be challenging to do
stairs. On the other hand if you used a backpack
type vacuum cleaner, you would not be so concerned
with stairs. The central vacuum cleaner is less
complicated to vacuum with since you are only
relocating the hose and don't have to push the
whole unit all over the house.
Before you purchase a vacuum cleaner you should
check out a reputable vacuum cleaner shop where you
can review different types and see which one in
particular appears to be the best choice for you.
Many of these shops encourage customers to take a
unit home to try for a few days before purchasing.
